When someone buys one of your tracks or albums, the payment goes through Stripe, which takes a processing fee of 2.9% plus $0.30 per sale. What's left is the net sale.
If a track or album has more than one credited artist, the net sale is split evenly between all of you.
You receive 50% of your individual share. Sound Legacy keeps the other 50%.
Subscribers pay a recurring fee for access to the full catalog. This isn't tied to any one artist when it's collected.
At the end of each period, total subscription revenue is added up, Stripe's fees are subtracted, and any infrastructure cost for that period is subtracted. What's left is the subscription pool.
Your share of that pool is based on your percentage of total platform streams and downloads during the period — your usage share.
Your usage share is multiplied by the pool to get your attributed amount, then your tier rate is applied.
If your artist profile was created before August 14, 2026, you're a Founding artist and receive 50% of your attributed subscription amount.
If your profile was created on or after that date, you're a Standard artist and receive 30% of your attributed amount.
Your current tier is shown at the top of this page.
Streams and downloads are measured from the last time a payout period was closed out. Payouts are closed out and sent on the 1st of each month.
Your total payout for a period is your direct sales payout plus your subscription payout.
See "How Your Pay Is Calculated" above — it covers direct sales, subscription revenue, and your tier rate in detail.
Founding artists (profile created before August 14, 2026) receive 50% of their attributed subscription amount. Standard artists receive 30%. Your tier is shown at the top of this page next to your name.
Payouts are closed out and sent on the 1st of each month, covering everything since the previous close-out.
Usage share is your streams and downloads as a percentage of the whole platform's activity that period. It moves naturally as your own numbers and everyone else's numbers change month to month — it isn't a fixed rate.
Numbers shown for the current period are live estimates and update in real time. Once a period is closed out, that period's numbers are locked in and appear in your Payout History exactly as paid.
Both direct sale proceeds and usage-based streams/downloads for that track are split evenly between every credited artist.
Sound Legacy keeps 50% of direct track/album sale proceeds after Stripe's fee, and whatever portion of the subscription pool isn't paid out at your tier rate. This covers platform hosting, development, and operating costs.
Use the "Update" button in the Payment Method section above. This is the only field you can edit yourself — everything else is calculated automatically.
Yes — every closed-out period appears in the Payout History table above, with its usage share, direct sales, subscription payout, and total.
